Many doctors have a preferred method to prescribing Clomid, and rarely vary. They each their own valid reasons for their choices, but may be open to discussion if you ask why they choose their particular protocol. You’re right – it does seem like taking Clomid 3-7 may be more effective. For those patients whose docs begin clomiphene on day 3 of the cycle rather than day 5, the thought is this shifts the balance between LH and FSH to slightly favor FSH release. Also, by starting a bit earlier, it is more likely that you will ovulate around day 14 — the day most women ovulate. Talk to your doc before changing the dates on your own.
