High prolactin levels can be a problem for women – it creates a problem with estrogen and some women won’t ovulate. Some women have high enough levels that they leak from their breasts. Plus, high prolactin levels can create PMS like symptoms, including irritability, depression and anxiety. There are a couple of possible causes including a pituitary tumor, thyroid problems, PCOS and others. Further testing is probably required.
