Pregnancy Options

About half of all pregnancies are unplanned pregnancies. When a positive pregnancy test comes at less than an ideal time, many women must consider what all of their pregnancy options are.

Your health care provider should be the first step when looking at pregnancy options. You need to know how far along your pregnancy is and whether you and the baby are in good health. Your health care provider can help you consider all of your pregnancy options: carrying the pregnancy to term and keeping the baby, placing the baby for adoption or terminating the pregnancy.

When looking at all of your pregnancy options, consider what resources you might have in terms of support. Local crisis pregnancy centers often offer pregnancy support in a variety of ways. They may offer baby equipment, counseling and, in some cases, a maternity home. WIC (Women, Infant and Children) offices through the health department often offer nutritional classes, free food and more.
