In her upcoming romantic-comedy, “The Back-Up Plan,” Jennifer Lopez plays a woman who becomes pregnant with twins via in vitro fertilization, but the real-life mother of twins remains insistent she never would consider such a treatment herself. “When it comes to family and relationships, I’m quite traditional,” Lopez said, explaining her personal reasons to Elle magazine for rejecting in vitro. “Just because of the way I was raised. And I also believe in God and I have a lot of faith in that, so I just felt like you don’t mess with things like that. And I guess deep down I really felt like either this is not going to happen for me or it is. You know what I mean? And if it is, it will. And if it’s not, it’s not going to.” Earlier she was quoted as saying, “[But] I knew there was nothing wrong with me. I knew that I could. Deep down, I really wanted it badly…” Ohhh….that’s what it takes, J-Lo. Just wanting it really badly. Thanks for that. I’ll start suggesting that to people. She gave birth to twins at 38, and while it isn’t likely, it certainly is possible. Not everybody is a candidate for IVF and it isn’t the right choice for everyone – for lots of reasons. However, celebs should think a little more before opening their mouths about infertility (especially if that’s the focus of their next film).
