Finding ways to balance one’s faith with the choices surrounding infertility can be a daunting task. The Catholic Infertility website has some helpful resources you may find useful. http://www.catholicinfertility.org/. It lists blogs,, support groups and other resources, including teachings on infertility treatment. For example, it lists which reproductive technologies are in agreement with Catholic teachings, including, but not limited to: General medical evaluation of both spouses for infertility. Appropriate evaluation and treatment of male factor deficiency. Assessment of uterine and tubal structural competence by imaging techniques (e.g., ultrasound, hysterosalpingogram, etc.). Appropriate medical treatment of ovulatory and hormonal dysfunction For additional help in decision-making, the American Fertility Association presented a free, online educational webinar entitled Catholics and IVF: A Pastoral Approach, presented and moderated by Cristina Matera, MD, and Ken Mosesian, Executive Director of The AFA. The webinar was designed to prepare Catholics who are considering IVF/ART, or have a child born as a result of IVF/ART, to have an informed productive and respectful conversation with their pastors. If you missed the live presentation, The AFA has set up a link to the recording of the hour long discussion for you to view at no charge.
