I had my 5th IUI today, and am concerned because my husbands counts were very low today, 2.4 million post wash and 9% motility...he has always been WAY above average, usually 60 million post with 57% motility...what could have happened? can it work?

The old adage goes - it only

The old adage goes - it only takes one, right? Sure it is possible that the IUI will work, but the odds aren't in your favor.

First, many doctors do not recommend continuing IUIs after the 3rd or 4th, as your odds are not going to substantially increase. So in general a 5th IUI doesn't have a high likelihood of being successful if the other 4 were not.

Secondly, sperm counts can vary from month to month or even day to day. He needs to make sure he is doing everything he can, making dietary and lifestyle adjustments as needed.

So keep your fingers crossed, but if it doesn't work, carefully consider if a 6th IUI is in your best physical, emotional and financial interest.
