high hCG levels on 2nd BPT

Hi, it's my first pregnancy.

Hi, it's my first pregnancy. On Jan 28th I had an IUI, w/hCG injections & clomid. On Feb 11th I had my 1st BPT (may be Beta, 14 DPO) & was positive with normal hCG level, Feb 13th (16 DPO) another blood test, Dr. call worried for high hcg level, and says difficult pregnancy and that I need more blood test, what I should expect?

hCG levels are tricky buggers

hCG levels are tricky buggers and it's hard to know exactly to take from them. In general, in th early part of your prgnancy, your hCG levels should double every 48 hours or so. Numbers that are not increasing or are doing so very slowly may indicate a problem.

What is the concern is the opposite? Can too high of hCG levels be a problem? A high hCG level can indicate miscalculation of pregnancy dating, a molar pregnancy, or a multiple pregnancy. There's not much you can do except wait this one out.

Rememer - the results from an ultrasound after 5 - 6 weeks gestation are much more accurate than using hCG numbers.
