could the empty twin sac be affect the HCG level if the twin with the healthy heartbeat? The numbers are rising but not doubling and she is about 5 weeks and her numbers are rising about 300 point every 2 days.

HCG levels can be all over

HCG levels can be all over the map and can be so frustrating. We wait and wait to get pregnant and then we wait again to make sure everything is ok.

The levels of hCG are higher with a multiple gestation and the doubling time is the same. The doubling time reflects cell growth. The level of hCG reflects the total number of cells. Because the empty twin sac does not have growing cells, it should not affect the numbers.

Best wishes,
