Hx: 24, married, G1P1 2007, trying to conceive 6 months, bloodwork normal, US normal. My OB prescribed clomid 50mg CD3-7 on CD 14 US showed 7 follicles over 20mm, ovulated CD 15. Do I even need clomid? Has my OB put me at risk for multiple gestation?

The short answer? Maybe.

The short answer? Maybe. Actually, any time you go on Clomid, or any other fertility drug for that matter, you risk multiples. But, just because you have that many follicles doesn't mean you WILL have multiples. Your estrogen level will also provide information about how your follicles are responding. But, yes, with 7 follicles over 21 mm, you absolutely are at a higher risk for multiples. They usually have to be over 18 mm before they will trigger. If this is a concern for you, talk about it with your doc before you start a cycle so you feel comfortable moving forward.

And I don't know if you needed Clomid - you are young, but you may not ovulate, in which case Clomid is indicated.
