Unplanned Pregnancy

An unplanned pregnancy is more common than you might imagine. In fact, about half of all pregnancies were not intentional conceived. What’s even more surprising is that in about half of unplanned pregnancies, birth control was being used. If you or someone you know has to cope with an unplanned pregnancy, it is important to find support as soon as possible. Because you were not expecting to be expecting, you may face some health concerns for you and your baby. Support can come from many different sources, but seeking advice from a health care practitioner is an important first step.


Having an unplanned pregnancy can feel overwhelming and frightening. You may have difficult decisions to make, lifestyle and nutrition changes to consider, as well as adapting to the needs of your rapidly changing and demanding body. Focus on taking care of yourself and seeking the support you need.
