Whether planned or a surprise, a second pregnancy is an exciting time in a woman’s life. A second pregnancy will almost certainly be different from the first in lots of ways. You may experience more aches and pains than you did the first time, and experience them earlier in the pregnancy. You may also grow into your maternity clothes faster this time, since those abdominal muscles are already stretched a little.
The best part about a second pregnancy is that labor is almost always shorter – usually by at least an hour! Some doctors say that laboring time is usually cut in half.
But, achieving a second pregnancy may be more difficult than you imagined, particularly if you are over 35. Because eggs and sperm are both affected by age, the passage of time may make it more difficult to conceive number two than it was to make baby number one.
