Pregnancy Risk

Being pregnant can feel like a full-time job. Between having to urinate frequently, make multiple doctors’ appointments, evaluating every aspect of your lifestyle can be overwhelming. However, the best way to optimize your chances for a healthy pregnancy is to do everything you can to avoid any pregnancy risk.

A pregnancy risk is anything you eat or drink, or do that might compromise your health, or that of your baby. For example, drinking alcohol while you are pregnant dramatically increases the likelihood of delivering a child with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Smoking cigarettes is another pregnancy risk that can cause miscarriage or premature birth.

There may be other ways to avoid a pregnancy risk that you have not considered. If you work on your feet all day without resting, or you frequently use harsh chemicals, you may need to make some changes. Sometimes, the changes are simple, such as limiting caffeine or getting more rest.
