The days of pregnant women waiting patiently in the rocking chair are long gone. It is perfectly safe to adopt a variety of different pregnancy exercises. You can continue to maintain a strong, healthy body during your pregnancy, but you will probably need to make some modifications.
Look for classes specially created as pregnancy exercises. Many gyms, recreation centers and some doctors’ offices offer different pregnancy-specific exercise classes. You might enjoy water aerobics, yoga or a low-impact pregnancy exercise class. Most classes will allow you to attend for a free initial class, although some require a note from your health care provider saying you are a good candidate for the class.
Review your current exercise program with your health care provider and he or she may have some recommendations to tailor your activity level to your current situation. Not all women can do the same pregnancy exercises and some women may be limited due to bed rest or high blood pressure.
