Black cohosh
Herbs have been used for centuries to treat health ailments. They can be used to promote fertility and can be considered to be a form of natural fertility medication. Because herbs can be very potent, it is important to speak with a registered naturopath before taking any herbal supplements. Herbs are most commonly used to treat female infertility include:
- Red Clover Blossom
- Licorice
- Chastetree Berry
- Black Cohosh
- Dong Quai
- Wild Yam
- False Unicorn Root
For male infertility, Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng) (4 grams per day for three months) may be helpful. Before taking any supplement it is important to consult a healthcare provider who is familiar with herbs and their effect on fertility and your body in general. Just because it's "natural" doesn't mean that it's safe or effective.
