New to this. Info on Meds?

My husband and I are new to this whole thing. We decided to have kids a little over a year ago and have had zero luck. We are thinking we might have some issues. We are going to have our first trip to see a doctor next week and I am trying to gather as much info as possible. One thing I am always weary of is pumping my body full of medications. I know it can be a good option and I am sure my doctor will have some good opinions but has anyone had luck with one thing or another? Are they things I should avoid?

Thanks in advance.

well, success with meds depend on what is going on with your body. have you had any testing done with any drs before? are you going to an RE? Are your cycles normal? some meds are worse than others definately, but usually if necessary they will start with clomid or metformin or both.
have you ever done temperature charts? they are a pain but a useful tool to know what is happening and useful to take to the doctor too so they don't send you home to do them in the meantime.

Thanks for your message. This is going to be my first time with a Dr.
I have been keeping a fertility chart which has a body temp part. Is that the same thing? A friend recommended that I gather all of this info before I go see a Dr.

i don't know. the temps i am referring to are basal body temperatures. you have to take your temp every morning before you get out of bed, right when you wake up.
judging by that, you can tell if you have been ovulating or not. (but it has to be taken first thing in the morning.)

Good. That is exactly what I have been doing. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

Thank you so much. :D

no problem! if you have been doing that then that is great. that means that you will probably get some blood drawn, and lots of hormone tests, and the rest will really depend on what your chart shows. if you show that you are ovulating regularly they might want to check your tubes. if your chart is irregular then they might wait to see what your bloodwork shows to decide what to do further.

My top two recommendations would be, find out as much as you can about your own body. Charting is excellent and also research. Nobody will ever care about this as much as you. The second is not to waste time with your gyno. Go straight to a specialist. They are more expensive, but their entire goal is to get your pg. I've heard everybody say this, that the time with their gyno was wasted. Good luck!!! And don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have no matter how silly they seem. If any of us have ever gone through it or experienced it, I know everybody would be glad to help.

It all depends on you and your dh and if there are issues with one of you or not. My dh and I tried for 3 years. I was diagnosed with PCOS and dh had low morphology. We did a fresh IVF cycle and a frozen cycle, both unsuccessful. So we went the adoption route and brought home a baby boy 3 weeks ago. 3 days after our son was home I found out we were expecting and it's all because of a natural herb I took to regulate my cycles. I had only taken it 4 1/2 months so I highly recommend it. It's called Chasteberry Vitex.
