I'm going thru my 2nd IVF cycle. I'm on lupron now. Last IVF cycle I supposedly had a few issues with egg quality. I recently found out thru other forums that an IVF diet consisting of high protein, not artificial sweetners/caffiene/alcohol can improve egg quality and quantity. Low carbs/ fresh fruits and veggies are also important. Has anyone else heard of this? When do you start diet...while on stims? Any other diet suggests? supplements?

I'm excited to hear that there maybe a way to help egg quality. Very Happy

I did that my last IVF cycle and it did work out pretty well. The diet I understood helped was high protein/high fat. So I ate a lot of meat and nuts with fruits and vegetables and tried to stay away from carbs starting around my lupron shots. You may be pleasantly surprised on egg quality anyhow just from a different IVF. So many things seem to affect it. Did they change your protocol this go around? Best of luck with this cycle, hope your BFP is around the corner!!!

Thanks lovelylily for your reply.

Last IVF I was on the minimum of menapur and follistim. also used lupron. This time i'm on gonal-f, menapur higher dosages. Also i'm continuing with acupuncture. This time I am trying to do the dietary changes you sugqested. RE hopes with the change in ivf protocol things will improve.

Did you use any supplements/ herbs? If so which...

Thanks so much especially for the wishful BFP next cycle.

At the Fertile Soul, we use diet, acupuncture, and herbs to support conception. If you are embarking on an IVF cycle, it is a good idea to keep a clean diet by cutting out refined carbohydrates and sugars, alcohol, caffeine (especially coffee), and switching to goat dairy which is easier for the body to digest. For more details go to the Fertile Soul Website and check out the "IVF preparation" article, written by Dr. Randine Lewis. We also have a consulting program that you might find helpful.

As far as a diet goes, yes stop all alcohol, all caffeine, limit sugars, no artificial sweeteners, no chocolate (has caffeine). Be as clean eating as possible. Have you thought about organic? I went all organic to get rid of all the toxins in my body that I could. It was a huge improvement. I was able to conceive for the first time! I have miscarried but feel I am now on the right track. Clean living and clean eating seems to improve things dramatically.
