Treating Male Infertility

Male fertility is a common cause for infertility in a couple. Three treatments are used depending on the needs of the patient. These are Medication, Electrotherapy and surgery and if all fail assisted reproduction.

Medication is first used by the doctor to cure male infertility. Hormonal sperm producing drugs are given to increase sperm production. If this method does not prove to be effective , electrotherapy is used. Ejaculation is stimulated by electric impulses in this method. Surgery is performed to remove and cure cysts and to remove any fertility impediment from the testes. As a last resort assisted reproduction is conducted by medical professionals. IVF is one procedure by which the sperm is allowed to fertilize the egg in a test tube and the embryo is implanted in the woman. Another procedure to assist fertility is by retrieving sperm surgically and injecting it into the fallopian tubes of the female.
