Should I or Shouldn’t I? Why I don’t care what You think.

I don’t why exactly, maybe it’s the leftover debate from the abortion movement, but lots of folks have opinions about infertility treatments. Who should access it, what kind they should be able to get and when they should stop.

Ignore all well-meaning people who start telling you what you shouldn’t do in regards to infertility treatment. Tune out anything that begins with “You should….” We all start this journey with our own ideas as to what our family will look like. Maybe you and your partner always pictured yourself with three or four kids. Or, maybe you and your child will be family of two. It's your decision.

I found people were much more vocal in their opinions about my fertility treatment when I was trying for number two. Fertility care was ok for the first, but off limits for subsequent babies, it seemed.

The bottom line: this is your decision. You (and your partner, if you have one) will have to live with the consequences – whatever they may be. Seek counsel from people you trust and if you choose, ask for their opinions. Otherwise, let it fall on deaf ears.
