Guess What? I'm Trying to Get Pregnant!

No, not me, not anymore. That ship has sailed. But I do remember the days of trying and trying to decide who I was going to tell.

Specifically, how much did I want my boss to know? That decision affected whether or not I could tell my co-workers and it wasn'tt necessarily clear-cut.
Not every employer is the same, obviously, and you need to very carefully look at the environment where you work before you make any announcements about trying to get pregnant. After all, taking time off for maternity leave is bad enough, but taking time off to get pregnant isn't convenient for most workplaces.

Some attorneys suggest telling your boss or human resource department that you are undergoing treatment for a chronic, non-life threatening medical condition. Because of that condition, you will require some time off, but will be able to work from home. In addition, while you may need flexible hours for a while, or a few days off following a surgical procedure, but that you are flexible, committed and will make sure all deadlines are met.

Few bosses can argue with that, even if it isn't an ideal situation.
