I haven’t met anyone who has gone through fertility challenges who hasn’t been changed by the journey, for better or worse. I don’t mean this in a raindrops and kittens, all cute and cuddly kind of way, either. Although I am sure that there are people who emerge relatively unscathed through a fertility battle, I’ve just never met them. On second thought, I don’t think anyone who’s honest can emerge without a few battle scars.

Consider this a post a gentle reminder that in midst of our powerlessness over what happens with our bodies we do have some control over what happens with our minds. I am not telling you to “Buck up,” or even to “relax,” but I am saying that our feelings come from our thoughts. In other words, if we’re feeling devastated and hopeless, we’re letting ourselves choose to think a series of thoughts guaranteed to make us miserable.

Is it possible to go through infertility and end up at peace with wherever your path takes you? Yes, but not without effort.
