What Panteleoni Saw in 1869

Panteleoni did the first hysteroscopic (telescope to look in the uterus) preocedures that we knew of. But it took literally a century for this technique to be grasped by 'modern' gynecologist as a terrific procedures. Now the improvements in lighting and the fibers that carry the lighing, plus the improvement in instruments that can be directed down a hysteroscopy to actually make them usable has refined the procedure to the point of more usefulness. Now office hysteroscopy is one of the more common gynecologic procedures used to diagnose bleeding, problems with chronic infections or discharge.
