Ah Honey, Honey

New Zeeland researchers tying to get beyond the general botanical lore of honey as a source of healing, and trying to find out: is one source of honey better than other sources. Previously it has been shown that honey is an antibacterial agent. So honey soaps are often promoted as having improved bacteriocidal properties. This group looked specifically at the wound healing abilities of honey in a rabbit model. And found that in fact that this does help. Now we haven't reached the point of advocating you go straight from the fridge to your cuts, but it its going to be a potential source of new herbal medicine.
