Women’s age and infertility?

Over the last 30 years, couples have been trying to take babies at a more mature age. But fertility in women decreases with increasing age as increase of age in women leads to poor egg quality meaning that successful pregnancy may not materialize.

Statistics advocates this. Whereas infertility in married women of ages between 16 to 20 is only 4.5%, infertility in married women of ages between 35 to 20 is 31.8% and infertility in married women over the age of 40 is 70%. The defining factor of infertility in women also varies with ages of women. Many doctors are in the opinion that a couple is infertile if the couple has not conceived after 12 months of contraceptive-free intercourse when the female is under the age of 34, and if the couple has not conceived after 6 months of contraceptive-free intercourse when the female is over the age of 35.

Thus declining egg quality of females over the age of 35 makes age-based discrepancy upon the optimal time to resort to doctor’s assistance.
