What's Your AMH?

I am a huge proponent of attending the free workshops offered by local fertility clinics. You get a chance to meet the staff, learn about the practice, and usually hear an informative lecture on a cutting edge topic.
This month and next, ACRM is offering a do not miss event if you live in the Atlanta area. Not only do you get a workshop (more on that below), but you also get a free AMH test.

What exactly does that mean? The test measures AMH, or anti-mullerian hormone, a substance produced by granulosa cells in ovarian follicles. Therefore, the levels are constant and the AMH test can be done on any day of a woman's cycle. AMH levels correlate with the number of antral follicles in the ovaries so women with lower AMH have lower antral follicular counts and produce a lower number of oocytes compared with women with higher levels. This complimentary (free) seminar is led by one of ACRM's Reproductive Endocrinologists on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM. Every seminar includes information about the diagnosis and treatment of infertility, options available to help build your family as well as a Q&A session. Attendees also have the opportunity to speak with the physician individually following the Q&A session. Additionally, one of our patient support representatives will answer questions regarding insurance and financial programs available to our patients. Refreshments are provided.
