What is unexplained male infertility?

Unexplained infertility is extremely frustrating for the doctor and the patient. Unexplained infertility in men is a situation when in spite of all tests being normal a man is unable to father children or it may also refer to a situation when nothing can be found to explain a man’s consistent abnormal semen analysis.

Research is still on to figure out how to diagnose and treat unexplained infertility in men. Some researchers suggest that genetic mutations of the Y chromosome could be a cause of this problem. However, very few laboratories in the world are equipped with detecting these mutations.

Some medical experts are of the opinion that men with a higher level of free radical activity in their bodies are less likely to induce pregnancy than men with lower levels, researchers recommend that treatment involving a reduction in oxidative stress and improvement of sperm quality may be helpful in curing unexplained male infertility.

Depending on the situation doctors suggest several different methods to deal with unexplained infertility, however most of these treatments are based on the principal of trial and error.
