PCOS Problems for Infertility

Polycystic ovarian syndrome or PCOS is a condition that affects females and results in infertility. The female is unable to release the egg when she suffers PCOS. The female will have follicles with eggs but the eggs do not mature or develop.

PCOS is caused because the patient does not have proper proportions of a follicle stimulating hormone to aid the release of the egg. Women with this condition are often hyperandrogenic and have more male hormones. Conception and pregnancy is usually difficult for PCOS patients. Treatment for PCOS is by medication and clomid tablets are considered effective medication for treating PCOS. Hormone stimulating drugs are injected to help assist the release of the egg. When medication fails intrauterine surgery is attempted. Finally advanced methods of assisting reproduction by bringing surgically removed eggs and sperm together in a lab setting through IVF or ICSI methods are attempted by the doctors.
