Obese men are prone to infertility

The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) recently revealed men with increased body mass index (BMI) were significantly more likely to be infertile than normal-weight men.
According to the study conducted by NIEHS, they found out that 20-pound increase in men's weight might increase the chance of infertility by about 10 percent. BMI is a number calculated from a person's weight and height. BMI provides a reliable indicator of body fatness for most people and is used to screen for weight categories that may lead to health problems.
Donna Baird, Ph.D., an NIEHS epidemiologist explained men’s BMI was an independent risk factor for infertility in both the older and younger men.

Recent studies further showed that semen characteristics that show lower semen quality for overweight and obese men, as well as hormonal differences.
This recent medical finding should be taken as eye opener obese men to strive harder to lose weight.
Being obese is already bad enough but being infertile due to your condition is something hard to swallow.
Those obese who have less drive to lose weight should now work harder if they want to have their children in the future.

Aside from the obese men, those persons who have normal weight should learn valuable lessons from this report. Having normal weight does not only offer good health but also higher chances of being fertile and having your own children.
Getting the chance to have own children is such an unforgettable feeling so men should strive hard that they will be fertile for their women.
Being infertile due to hereditary reasons is acceptable but failing to provide a fertile sperm to your wife or girlfriend because you are too fat is a different story.
