Infertility and its Determinants

Determinants are decisive factors. There are many determinants that convince doctors that a couple is infertile. The doctor will then apply a suitable treatment to help the couple conceive a child.

The couple will undergo a physical before the doctor can find the determinant that prevents them from conceiving. The advanced age of the female is usually the first determinant of infertility. Hormonal or endocrine dysfunction is another common determinant of infertility. This dysfunction can be successfully treated through medication. Sexually transmitted diseases are determinants of infertility. These are again treatable through medication. Uterine anomalies in women are treated by surgery or medication after diagnosis. Ovulation disturbances are determinants that are treated by medicine or surgery or both. Male factors account for more than 30% to 40% of infertility problems. These could be because of a poor sperm count or poor sperm movement. These problems are also curable through medication.
