Let Go of the Aspirin

For years, quite a few infertility doctors recommended that their patients take a daily dose of baby aspirin while tryign to conceive. Some women who had miscarried frequently took it, and some doctors recomemnded that women trying to conceive pop 81 mg daily.

Some studies suggested that aspirin might be helpful in increasing pregnancy rates. Early results suggested that aspirin might increase ovary activity, which would allow them to release multiple eggs during ovulation. The more commonly accepted reason was that it may have increased blood flow to the uterus, which would allow for a thicker and healthier uterine lining.

However, some people were concerned that it increased miscarriage rates. A hot off the presses research study reviewed all current research studies regarding aspirin and concluded there was no clear evidence that aspirin would improve a woman's chances of conceiving compared to taking a placebo.

If your physician recommends taking aspirin, the you want to bring up this research and reconsider.
